Another Irish fighter added to Mick Conlan St Patrick’s Day Undercard

The big card at The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York on St Patrick’s Day will now feature three Irish fighters.

As per the new tradition, Belfast feather Mick Conlan [10(6)-0] will headline the Top Rank show on Sunday March 17th.

Close Conlan friend Paddy Barnes [5(1)-1(1)] was then announced for the bill in what will be his first fight since his unsuccessful WBC flywight title challenge last April.

Now a third fighter from these shores has been added to the ESPN+ card – Limerick welterweight prospect Lee Reeves [2(2)-0].

Reeves turned pro in Canada last year, linking up with Lee Baxter Promotions and the southpaw, who turns 24 this month, racked up stoppage wins over Benito Aburto and Maged Hammo.

The Corpus Chritsti graduate was a two-time Irish underage champion and the Senior A winner at the prestigious Haringey Box Cup last year.

An opponent has already been confirmed for Reeves, with the Treaty County man listed to face Edward Torres.

Conlan tops the bill in a ten-rounder versus tough Mexican Ruben Garcia Hernandez [24(10)-3(1)-2] while Barnes will box tricky Texan Oscar Mojica [11(1)-5(0)-1] over six.

The 2016 card, Conlan’s debut, also featured New York-based Monaghan light welter Larry Fryers, while the 2017 did not include any other Irish fighters.

Next month’s bill is co-headlined by a welterweight fight between Luis Collazo and Reeves’s promotional stablemate Samuel Vargas, and also features undercard support from Josue Vargas, Joseph Adorno, John Bauza, and Conlan’s Russian rival Vladimir Nikitin.
