Andres Gutierrez wanted doctors to pull his damaged teeth out so he could fight Carl Frampton

The dramatic eleventh hour cancellation of Carl Frampton‘s Belfast homecoming fight last night left a lot of people disappointed.

There was however no man more distraught than Andres Gutierrez [35(25)-1(0)-1].

The 24 year old Mexican had the opportunity of a lifetime, the chance to become a major player in boxing, but saw a freak accident force him out of the fight with ‘The Jackal.’

Gutierrez slipped in the shower, leaving him with severe dental damage and gashes on his chin and nose.

In typical Mexican fashion though, ‘Jaguarcito’ wanted doctors to pull what remained of his teeth to allow him to fight Frampton.

Gutierrez’s requests were, naturally, refused by medical professionals.

The Queretaro fighter’s translator explained to UTV that “coming into the shower with the slippers on, he simply slipped and, with the handle, he hit his face. It was an accident.”

“He was eager to fight. I was with him and he told the doctors ‘pull my teeth out, I’ll fight teethless.’ That shows what was his spirit about this fight.”

“What he says is ‘if you give us the opportunity to heal these wounds we will come back and we will more than certainly give you the fight that you were looking for.'”
