Americans will be itching to see me again says Boston-bound Ray Moylette

By the time they cough clear the smoke, and wipe the dust from their eyes, American fight fans will be screaming for more Ray Moylette [1(0)-0] – claims the Mayo man himself.

The straight-talking light welter makes only his second pro appearance in Boston this Saturday and, rather than play the ‘learning fight’ card, is promising Hallowe’en style fireworks on St Patrick’s Weekend.

Moylette, who defeated Ivan Godor and passed a tough enough debut test in London early this month, is back is on the road again as he trades leather on a Murphys Boxing show at the House of Blues on Saturday night.

The self proclaimed ‘new age gladiator’ is relishing the chance to fight Stateside and isn’t just eager to make an impression is confident he will.

“The American fans can expect a pretty explosive fight with all out action,” Moylette told Irish-Boxing.com ahead of the four rounder.

“My opponent Matt Probin is known to be pretty tough and likes to go to war. Everyone knows I love to go to war. I have too much skill, too much speed and too much power for him. So I’m expecting to excite the fans over here and I know when the dust settles they will be itching to get me back.”

“The prediction is the same as always. Business as always. Get the win under the belt. Create and take my chances when they come and I will be looking for that first big KO of my career.”

Moylette brought a big support from Connacht to the Connaught Rooms when he debuted in London. The majority of those fan won’t make it to Boston, but the Mayo favourite is still expecting a lot of support.

“It’s massive to be fighting on Paddy’s Weekend. This is the stuff dreams are made of. I have a brother living in Boston for the last 20 years and plenty of friends from home who have all done there fair share of ticket-selling for this fight.”

“My family and some of my friends from home also have made the journey. I know it’s only my second pro fight, and I’m thousands of miles away from home, but I will still have massive support from the great Irish community here in Boston. I’m really looking forward to showcasing my skills this side of the Atlantic.”

The former European amateur champion fights only for the second time as a pro this weekend, but feels like he transitioned well under the guidance of Paschal Collins.

Reflecting on his first outing he added that “I felt my debut went to plan. We knew what we had to do and I think we executed the plan very well. I felt in control over the four rounds and I really enjoyed it in there. I felt stronger and I had more left in the tank when it was all over.”

“Paschal and my corner were concerned about my opponents head and when I was comfortably up we took a step back in the fourth round to limit the risk of getting cut which would have ruined my chances of my American debut.”

“We got the win and I followed instructions from the corner. Very hard to beat a great team.”

Maine’s Matt Probin provides the opposition for the flamed haired puncher on a show that includes Spike O’Sullivan, Niall Kennedy, Paddy Irwin, and an interesting clash between Irish-American Danny O’Connor and Donegal man Micheal McLoughlin.

Moylette points out his second fight foe will come to win and isn’t a journey man, well, not yet.

“My opponent is pretty tough and fights at welterweight, the weight above me. As I am never one to shy away from a fight we have agreed a catchweight. He is not a journeyman, he still has the possibility to become a prospect fighter so there is a lot on the line for him. It’s my job to reinforce the chances and make him go down the journeyman route.”
