All-Irish clash confirmed for Belfast BoxNation bill

The big Belfast BoxNation bill this October has been further bolstered today by the addition of an intriguing all-Irish fight.

The Titanic Exhibition Centre will play host to a super featherweight clash between Marco McCullough and Declan Geraghty on Friday October 5th.

The Belfast v Dublin match-up was confirmed this evening.

Shankill’s McCullough [20(11)-4(3)] had been mentioned as a potential voluntary defence for British champion Sam Bowen the following night in Leicester but will instead face Geraghty.

McCullough has won three on the bounce since moving up in weight following his British featherweight title defeat to Ryan Walsh last year. The most recent of these came on Saturday at Windsor Park where he outpointed the extremely game Jordan Ellison over six rounds.

Inner-City Dub Geraghty [17(4)-3(2)] is jumping straight back into a big fight following his rematch stoppage loss to Jono Carroll in June, with ‘Pretty Boy’ deciding to continue his career following the defeat.

This evening’s announcement also included news of the undercard for the bill, with Newtownards light heavyweight Steven Ward [8(2)-0], Derry super bantam Tyrone McCullagh [10(5)-0], and St James’s super middle Padraig McCrory [4(2)-0] all set to feature.

Earlier today it was confirmed that the card would be headlined by a headline clash between Dublin heavyweight Sean Turner and Liverpool’s David Price.
