Adam Booth to train Perez in Ireland for May World title eliminator

MIKE Perez will train in Ireland with Adam Booth ahead of his massive HBO broadcast World title eliminator on May 24.

The Cork based Cuban had been working with Gennady Golovkin’s trainer Abel Sanchez in Big Bear California ahead of his more recent bouts, but according to Boxing Scene will be based in Ireland ahead of his clash with undefeated Byrant Jennings.

‘The Rebel’ will work under the tutelage of Andy Lee’s current trainer Adam Booth, a coach that helped David Haye to heavyweight World title success. Visa issues mean the former stand out amateur can only go Stateside a number of weeks ahead of a clash that could put him in line for a World title shot.

Sanchez believes Perez has the ability to achieve the win, but claims Booth will have to get the Cuban, who has previously been accused of laziness, in the right frame of mind. The former Prizefighter winner wasn’t firing on all cylinders in his last fight-a draw with Carlos Takem- after his previous opponent Magomed Abdusalamov was hospitalised after their clash and Sanchez believes it affected his display.

“That is a tough fight it all really depends on Mike’s frame of mind going into the fight,” said Sanchez.
