Brilliant Conlan Breezes into Olympic Quarterfinal
By Jonny Stapleton
MICHAEL Conlan breezed through to the quarter finals of the Olympics with a classy display against tough and durable Duke Akeuth Mica in the ExCel Arena tonight.
The Belfast fighter looked a professor of the sweet science as he brushed aside tough and durable opposition with ease.
Conlan was full of youthful exuberance ahead of the bout and fittingly looked fresh, confident, classy and stylish against the Ghanaian- yet still looked like a seasoned veteran in what was his Olympic debut.
The younger brother of Jamie Conlan is now just one victory away from draping a medal around his neck.
Conlan will now face old foe Nordine Oubaail, who he beat twice, in the quarters.
