TEAM Wilton have put their money where there mouth is and offered British Champion Chris Edwards the chance to fight Luke Wilton in the Ulster Hall on October 13.
Veteran Edwards last week told Irish-boxing.com that he was willing to fight ‘Winky’ but claimed no concrete contact had been made.
Belfast’s ever improving Wilton however revealed an offer has been registered and its seems the English fighter is taking his time to check the fine print. Wilton countered claims that he wasn’t keen on Edwards by stressing it’s a fight he has sought for years. “I would love to fight Edwards as far as I am aware my camp made him an offer and never heard back from him. If Edwards is willing to come here an fight me it’s the fight I want and have wanted for a long time so bring it on,” Wilton told Irish-boxing.com
If the Edwards bout doesn’t come off the pint sized puncher is confident other title pursuits will prove fruitful.Wilton believes he will fight for a major and prestigious strap at the start of the new season and says the joining forces of Belfast and Peace Promotions will help launch his career to the next level.
“I am doing my first 12 rounder in October so I’m assuming it will be for a major title. Having good quality promotional backing will definitely help me in the future. I can get regular fights and those fights will push on. I am in training now getting ready for my next fight. I am raring to
