MURTAGH TO FACE HILLERBY FOR IRISH TITLE
SERIAL Irish title challenger Lee Murtagh has be afforded a fifth tilt at a prestigious green strap.
The Leeds based Irish fighter will do battle with Joe Hillerby for the vacant light middleweight Irish title on a potentially sparkling Emerald Promotions, Emerald Road House hosted fight night.
The 38 year old 48 fight veteran had failed Irish title attempts against Ciaran Healy, Anthony Fitzgerald twice and JJ McDonagh and will be hoping for a better result against one of Emerald’s jewels.
Joe Rea had tried to secure a bout with the Sandyrow fighter claiming there is no show like an all Joe show, but Murtagh earned a tilt ahead of the Prizefighter contestant.
Another Irish veteran Paul Griffin also appears on the card. Amateur legend and arguably one of the most talented Irish fighter never to challenge for a note worthy pro title, Griffin will take on another former amateur stand out Anthony Cacace.
Stephen Reynolds ensure the amateur sub plot as he makes his pro bow at the tender age of 39. The five time senior champ faces an intriguing bout with Belfast’s popular Ugandan Moses Matuvo and hopes to challenge for the Irish cruiserweight title after two or three pro bouts.
Another interesting all Irish clash on the card is the match up between Darren Cruise and former European semi pro middleweight champion Paul Moffett.
Mark Ginley is another of the Emerald jewels on display on the night and is pencilled in to face Christian Laing, whilst his brother Ray Ginley fights Jody Meikile. Gerard Healy is also on the bill against a yet to be named opponent.

This is a joke surely? How can Murtagh be getting ANOTHER shot at an Irish title? He’s been chinned in his last two fights (one against a 3 – 2 novice)It’s a complete joke and an insult to lads who do deserve a title shot.
