Clark believes he has turned a corner
By Jonny Stapleton
IRISH title hopeful Ryan Clark claims he will prove he has transformed from journey man to contender by repeating his victory over JonJo Finnegan in Burton on Trent on July 27.
The English born fighter, who took out his Irish title this year, defends the International super middleweight title against the fighter he defeated to win the strap earlier this year.
With just three wins from 54 fights Clark is known as a lively opponent and not viewed as a title hopeful.
‘Fearless’ however, is adamant he has turned a corner and is confident a new attitude to the game can transform his career around.
Clark claims he registered his first ever full training camp before registering a first title win earlier this year- and stresses that is the key to future success.
“I definitely turned a corner. Look what i can do with a bit of notice the first time I had eight weeks I trained and knocked Finnegan out for a title, happy days! I am only 22 and I have got plenty more left in the tank. I am totally of the road the now. The phones stopped ringing too. People know I am dangerous if I am fit,” Clarke told Irish-boxing.com.
Having ended a eight fight losing streak with an eight round knock out last time out Clark has got a taste for victory. He is confident he can repeat his victory over Finnegan and will then go in search of revenge over one of his many defeaters Frank Buglioni.
“I am 150% confident of victory. My training is going so well I know I will beat him. There is not a single doubt in my mind. In terms of fights I will take whatever comes my way. I want Buglioni again and I want a bigger title so going to strap these wins together.”
Clark, who had a public fall out with Anthony Fitzgerald last year, dismissed rumours there was bad blood between him and Finnegan, but is adamant that won’t stop him from hurting his foe again.
“I wouldn’t say there is bad blood. I just know I am a better than fighter than him. I am a lot stronger. He caught me with ‘the best punch he has ever thrown and he still couldn’t finish me. I came back and chinned him and I am going to hurt him again.”
