Casey and Booth to fight in the Stadium of Light

By Jonny Stapleton
WILLIE Casey and Jason Booth will do battle for the WBA European title in the Stadium of light on July 14.

‘Big Bang’ will be looking for a return to winning ways after loosing to Andreas Evensen at featherweight back in April.

The former European champion and World title challenger will also be hoping victory over the well known former Commonwealth champion will see him make a return to the super bantamweight reckoning.

Despite Emerald Promotions covering the cost of the fight not too many promoters seemed too keen to stage what will certainly has the potential to be an entertaining dust up.
Phil Jefferies, however saw the clash as a perfect fit for his Summer Rumble 2 and put the title fight on the  top of the bill.

“Casey and Booth’s title fight was due to go ahead elsewhere, but the staging of the show fell through at the last minute and with them having heard of Summer Rumble 2, they rang up to see if we could put them on our show,” Jefferies explained.

“We’re absolutely delighted to do that. It will be a perfect finale to what will be a fantastic day’s professional boxing and having lost Martin’s challenge for the English bantamweight title, it’s great that we stage a fight for a WBA and European title.
