Six Irish into European Junior Championship quarters
Wayne Kelly and Lewis Crocker advanced to the quarter-finals of the 16th European Junior Championships following two magnificent wins in Bulgaria this afternoon.
Kelly booked his ticket into the last-eight after recording a 15-8 decision over Germany’s Johanathan Zumbe in the lightweight class in Sofia.
Crocker followed that up with a 14-8 verdict over Ogulcan Albayrak of Turkey.
Both boxers join their compatriots, Jason McKay, Darren Pollock and Kalum McConville, in Wednesday’s quarter-finals.
Brian Wall will be aiming to make that six Irish boxers through to the last-eight later this afternoon against Romania.
