Irish Squad to face England in Cork this weekend

The Irish Amateur Boxing Association have named their squad for Saturday’s international with England at the Rochestown Park Hotel in Cork.
The team for Saturday, from 46kg up, will represent Ireland at next month’s European Junior Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Galway’s James Cleary will wear the Irish flyweight vest in Cork and at the European Junior Championships, while Cork’s Michael Olden will also line at flyweight against England.
Ireland beat Scotland 10-7 at the recent international clash at the Rochestown Park Hotel and will be looking to maintain their winning streak this weekend.
However, England are sending over a talented young squad of national champions to Leeside and Irish coach Billy McClean says they are anticipating a very competitive evening.
The Watergrasshill BC in Cork, which were the host club for the Scotland match, will be the host club for the visit of England.
Luke Thomas has been named Irish captain for Saturday’s clash.
Thomas claimed a bronze medal at the 2011 European Junior Championships in Hungary.
John Nevin and Martin Conroy also won bronze at the 2011 European Junior Championships.
Ticket’s for Saturday’s international are priced at €10 and will be available at the door. The doors open at 7pm.
The 2012 European Junior Championships glove off at the Festivalna Hall in Sofia on June 23.
