Kenny Egan claimed it was a massive honour to be part of the Olympic torch bearing team.

The Olympic 2008, Beijing silver medallist will carry the Olympic flame in the historic June 6 Olympic Torch run.

“I am absolutely delighted to have been selected. Muhammad Ali carried the torch and its an honour.

The Clondalkin 30 year is not the only member of the boxing family to bestowed the honour of carrying  the historic flame. Barcelona 1992 medallists Wayne McCullough and Michael Carruth will also carry the run as will mother of four time World Champion Katie Taylor, Bridget Taylor.
