Brian Magee backs Bute over Froch

By Jonny Stapleton

HAVING  shared the ring with both Brian Magee is probably the best man to consult for a Carl Froch v Lucian Bute prediction- and the Belfast fighter is leaning the way of the Romanian.

The WBA interim champion was stopped by both super middleweights, but believes Bute will have that little bit to much for the dogged English star.

Magee advises Froch to be aggressive if he wants to gain the upper had but he is feels Bute will outbox the home favourite.

“I think Bute will outbox him and cause Froch all sorts of problems,” Magee told the Belfast Newsletter.

“Froch cannot stand off him as Bute will outbox him and just pick him off. Froch has to ask questions of Bute and put him under pressure, but I think Bute will shade it.”

The Froch Bute world title fight is not the only fight on this Saturday’s bill that Magee has taken an interest in. The respected veteran is keen to see fellow Belfast pro Carl Frampton claim the IBF Inter-Continental title in an intriguing clash with Raul Hirales.

“Carl Frampton also fights Raul Hirales for the IBF Inter-Continental title on that bill and I hope Carl gets the job done.

“It is a great bill to be on and I hope Carl wins the fight and moves on to bigger and better things.”
