Video Vault: Ian Tims Fight with Juho Haapoja
By Jonny Stapleton
A second round clash of heads left Ian Tims with double vision during his EU Cruiserweight title fight in Finland earlier this year, but the Dubliner believes the judges were more in need of an eye test than him.
‘The Tank’ lost to home fighter Juho Haapoja on points, but feels he done enough to win the title.
Indeed the former amateur heavyweight champion believes if the title clash had of been in Ireland he would now be EU champ.
Tims, who postponed an arm operation to take the fight, does take solace from his performance and thinks his display will help raise his profile.
“I thought I won the fight. If it had of been in Ireland I would have got the decision. It was a great fight and I think the display will help my career. I am off now to get the operation on my arm and get back to the gym as soon as possible,” Tims told www.irish-boxing.com.
