Sizzling Sauna Statement gives Fury Klitschko edge
By Jonny Stapleton
TYSON Fury claims he has already proved he can stand the heat in the kitchen that is the top of the world heavyweight scene.
The recently crowned Irish champion says showed he is too hot for world champion Wladimir Klitschko to handle- not via a sensational sparring display, but by out lasting him an sauna contest.
The giant 23 year old says he gained a mental edge over the WBA, IBF and WBO champ by out lasting him in the dead heat of an after training camp sauna.
Fury wants to wait until he has more experience and is a position to entice either of the Klitschko brothers out of Germany before challenging for world honours, despite his sauna antics and the fact Wladimir’s coach Emanuel Steward told www.irish-boxing.com that the Irish heavyweight was the most qualified of the contenders.
When is ready to take on the dominant force of the heavyweight scene he believes he will ‘wipe the floor’ with either brother and claims the sizzling sauna statement will give him an edge.
“I believe I’ve got one over on him already. We had a sauna competition at his training camp in Austria in October and I mentally broke him down. I almost passed out before I got out. We were in there with a few of his training team and everyone was getting out after 10 minutes. Me and him stayed in. It got to 15 minutes and I was having to count down the seconds in my head to get through it. I made my move and put more oil on and he couldn’t take it. Eventually he got up in a huff and walked out without speaking. I won that battle.
“I’m ready to fight anyone in the world right now. If my promoter wants me to fight Wladimir or Vitali Klitschko in the morning, I will do it, but things can’t be done like that. It’s a long process. I’m going up in the world and Wladimir has mentioned me as a possible opponent.”
