Pajo Hyland to face Frankie Archuleta on May 12
By Jonny Stapleton
PATRICK Hyland will be looking to make Frankie Archuleta (27-9-1, 14 KOs) victim number 26 as he fights the 36 year old Mexican Stateside on May 12.
The Tallaght native headlines his second Final Round Promotions and Team Snooki
Boxing “Irish Invasion” card in an eight round contest.
Archuleta holds a win over Johnny Tapia but lost to ’Pajo’s’ last opponent, Emanuel Lucero, in 2002 so not quite the jump in class Hyland craves to close in on contender status.
However, whilst some fans might desire a bigger more recognised test for Hyland at this stage of his career the undefeated talented assures everything is running according to plan.
“I came here to become world champion,” he said. “I am looking forward to being 26-0. It’s all going to plan now and I have been sparring with Chazz McDowell. He is a come-forward guy, and that will suit me,” Hyland added. “He has been in with some top competitors. I will have the same attitude I have for every fight; to go in and try and knock out whoever they put in front of me,” said Hyland.
In other news, light middleweight Kevin Rooney, Jr. (4-1, 2 KOs) will have the biggest night of his fledgling career on May 18 at the Times Union Center, in Albany, New York when he fights on the televised undercard of ESPN Friday Nights. An opponent has yet to be confirmed.
