Magee ready to fulfil life time dream by beating Balzsay
Brian Magee will challenge Hungarian Karoly Balzsay for the WBA’s super-middleweight title before the end of June.
The confirmation of Balzsay as Magee’s opponent comes after the champion successfully defended his belt against Kazakhstan-born Dimitri Sartison on Saturday night.
The promoters are in discussions over the details of the fight, which is expected to take place in Denmark or Belfast.
Regardless of opponent or venue the veteran fighter is determined to fulfil a life long ambition by becoming champion of the world.
Some fight will question the validity of the WBA ‘regular’ strap and point to Andre Ward as the true champion of that particular governing body.
That doesn’t seemed to have lessened the excitement of Magee and he claims victory represents all he has been striving for over a long and successful career.
The Irish fighter of the year said.
“It would mean the world to me to win this version of the WBA title. It is a great opportunity and a massive massive fight for me. If I won this belt no one could ever take it away from me. Everyone dreams of being world champion and I am no different. This is a chance to fulfil a life long ambition. It is a massive belt and represents everything I have been working towards in my boxing career. And after that who knows I would love to be involved in a unification fight.
Don’t forget where you heard it first
