By Paddy Appleton
Belfast boxer Luke Wilton fights Francis Miyeyusho for the International Masters title in just over a week’s time and the young Irishman can’t wait.
Miyeyusho had to be drafted in after Wilton’s original opponent Shabani Madilu pulled out, but that hasn’t fazed the Barking-born fighter.
“Yeah I’ve had a change of opponent. He has been in with a lot of worthy fighters and has a lot of title experience in Asia but I can’t wait till the fight now to prove my quality and win the title.”
Miyeyusho may present a tricky assignment for Wilton but ‘Winky’is far from scared, and he knows that if he works to his strengths he has the greatest of chances against the experienced Tanzanian fighter.
“It will be a tough fight as he a tall southpaw, so that could pose problems, but I believe in myself and I know I have the tools to get the job done.”
Wilton has been training steadily for the bout and the change of opponent will hopefully not perturb him too much as he seeks glory on the
“Training has gone brilliant, I have done about 80 rounds of sparring with 3 days left so I’m ready to go now and I’m itching to get in the ring,” said the 23 year-old flyweight.
