Fury: Rogan will be beg me to put him out of his misery
By Jonny Stapleton
Tyson Fury says he will inflict so much pain on Martin Rogan in their Irish title fight this Saturday night that the ‘The Iron Man’ will be begging to be knocked out and put out of his misery.
The 23 year old Irish title hopeful claims he is a class above the veteran, indeed he has given himself world class billing and labelled ’Big Roggie’ a domestic fighter.
The former British and Commonwealth title holder believes the inaugural Prize-fighter winner is well past his best at 40, stressing event he great Muhammad Ali couldn’t perform past 35.
“Maybe he is a great 40-year-old, maybe he isn’t over the hill, and maybe he’s a great fighter but there’s a difference between great and supreme, world class and domestic. This is what you’re looking at – you’re looking at, talking to, listening to a world-class athlete; you’re talking to and listening to a British-class athlete over there in Martin Rogan,” Fury said at today press conference.
“Maybe yes he is a great fighter, he is going to come for a war, but the greatest of all time was Muhammad Ali, he was finished at 37; Larry Holmes, another great finished [before 40]. So if all of them can be finished off before 40, Martin Rogan hasn’t got a prayer. When I hit Martin Rogan with a couple of left jabs, he’s going to be begging for the right hand to knock him out. It’s going to be crazy, like he said, it’s going to be a pantomime –everyone’s going to be saying “where’s Rogan? There he is [motions to the ground]”
