Barnes going for Gold in London
By Jonny Stapleton
Paddy Barnes is going prospecting for Gold in London this Summer.
The Beijing Bronze medallist wants to find a more precious medal on his return to the greatest boxing stage on Earth.
The talented Irish Champion claims he wants to win every tournament he enters and points out that his expectation levels don’t change when it comes to the London 2012.
The Holy Family fighter wants to prove he is the best amateur flyweight in the world by completing a European, Commonwealth and Olympic Gold hat trick.
“I am going there to win gold, it’s as simple as that. Anything else will not be good enough. Every tournament I enter I want to win and it is the same for these Olympics. I want to win gold and prove I am the best,” he explained before discussing the hat tick possibility.
“That would be a great hat-trick to achieve. I have proved I am the best in Europe and the Commonwealth. It would be great to be crowned Olympic champion as well,” said Barnes.
“I won bronze in Beijing in my first Games and now I want gold in my second.
“It was a great feeling to qualify but there is still plenty of work left to do,” said Barnes.
