Marcos Maidana’s Sebastian Contursi told Eddie Hearn to stop ‘throwing low promotional blows’ and switch his focus from trying to tempt Argentine to the UK and Ireland to promoting his own fighters.
Contursi was upset after reading Hearn’s comments in the following article published on Irish-boxing.com (Maidana McCloskey hit to many road blocks:http://www.irish-boxing.com/2012/04/mccloskey-maidana-hit-too-many-roadblocks/ ) and wanted his right to repost.

Maidana’s manager sent us the following statement.
“This guy Eddie Hearn has such a big nose that he sticks everywhere in the first place. But also he has a big mouth to the extent that during post fight press conferences he talks more than the boxers themsleves, like in Kell Brook’s last bout.
“All of a sudden this guy seems to become obsessed with Marcos Maidana. First, he tried to make Maidana fight Paul McCloskey in Belfast and then he wanted Marcos to face Brook. After we rejected his offers because he just simply does not have the money he started talking shit about us.
“Last year we’ve talked to Paul McCloskey and his manager Francie and they seem to be very nice people. We told them that we were open to hear a financial proposal. Hearn then told everyone in the UK by saying he has made an irrisistible offer when in reality he came up with a mediocre 300K dollars offer plus some TV rights. Maidana made almost three times that money by facing Alexander, so he is lying again by saying that he made less than 300K.
“Hearn is new in the business but he already should learn the first rule: to respect fighters, Especially, fighters like Maidana who has proven himself in the most difficult and competitive market. Everybody but Hearn knows that Maidana has been in such exciting fights in the last two or three years and that is why networks like HBO or Showtime want him in their networks unlike Hearn’s fighters. The only well known fighter Hearn had the chance to work along with was Amir Khan and Khan’s people don’t want to do anything with him after that.
“What it is more surprising is the fact that out of nothing Hearn opines about Maidana’s management team when he does not nothing about it. He said that there are many people who take a cut out of Maidana’s purse when in reality there is one person who manages him which it happens to be me and then, of course, a promoter, Golden Boy. No one else is involved in the equation. With that formula Maidana has made very good money, something that I don’t really think is happening with Hearn’s fighter if you judge by the money he usually offers to their opponents.

“Rather than throwing low punches and in my opinion misleading the public Hearn should care more about giving international exposure to his fighters and ask himself why they are hardly known. The best he could do for McCloskey was securing him a fight against a semi-retired fighter like Julio Diaz?
