Adam Nolan one win away from London 2012
By Jonny Stapleton
Adam Nolan ensured a return to winning ways for the Irish team in the Olympic Qualifiers in Trabzon this afternoon.
The Bray fighter defeated Tamerlan Abdullayev by a comfortable four point margin and will fight in Friday’s semi finals, where a win will guarantee him a sport in London 2012.
Katie Taylor’s club mate got off to a positive start and held a 6-3 lead after the first bell. Abdullayev battled back to within a point as the second ended 12-11 in favour of the Irish man, but Nolan finished the fight as he started it and unlike David Oliver Joyce an hour earlier progressed to the next phase of qualifying.
