Tyson Fury wants to beat Kevin McBride and get “Tyson revenge” whilst fulfilling his life long Irish title dream in his next fight.
The British and Commonwealth champion, who announced himself as a potential contender by defeating Dereck Chisora last Saturday night, is targeting an Irish title next and wants to fight the man who retired legend Mike Tyson in either Belfast or Dublin.
Fury, a cousin of Limerick middleweight Andy Lee, stressed Coleman Barrett and Iron Man Martin Rogan are also options, but would prefer veteran McBride because of the link Tyson and his American notoriety.
“It was always said I wanted to fight for an Irish title. It would a lot to me and I am perfectly positioned to fight for it now. I want to challenge for it in the 02 or the Odyssey Arena. Irish title fights should take place in Ireland. There are a lot of potential options Rogan and Coleman Barrett are two, but I would prefer McBride. McBride is known across American and I can get Tyson revenge. I am confident I would beat all three regardless,” Fury told Mirror Sport.
The English born fighter has only recently got his Irish decent confirmed and he is delighted he now can generate more support from the Irish public.
The unbeaten giant is confident he will claim the World heavyweight title one day and wants to defend the strap in Croke Park.
The man mountain also stressed when he does get the chance to fight for one of the biggest prizes in boxing he will train for the clash by scaling the mountains of Armagh.
“I am confident I can beat any man and I am sure I will champion of the World one day. You can put a man that was a mixture of King Kong, Mike Tyson and Muhammad Ali and I would beat him. When I win the belt I will defend it in Ireland. It was always a dream of mine to fight in the Theatre of Dreams and Croke Park and I will do that when I am champion of the World.”
