17-year-old James Power secures second fight date

Ireland’s youngest pro James Power [1(1)-0] will fight for a second time before his seventeenth birthday.

The Cork lightweight made his debut in Mexico last month and he will return to Tijuana next month for fight number two.

Still too young to box in Ireland, Power will box in Mexico in a four rounder on Saturday November 3rd.

Power, who is a sixth year student in Coachford College, will take advantage of the mid-term break get another fight in before he turns 18 next April and completes the Leaving Cert in the Summer.

The Declan Geraghty-trained fighter stopped Omar Santos Alvarado in the second round of his debut just over three weeks ago.

Power is advised by Assassin Boxing and other boxers from the stable may also feature on the card.

The youngster said that “I’m really looking forward to representing you all in my second pro fight again this soon. Let’s go at it again!”
